Minus 8 last night

And minus six at ten this morning. It has reached the balmy heights of plus 1.5c by this afternoon, but now the sun is setting it's rapidly cooling again. Still it could be worse, France and Belgium are in complete chaos with snow.

I could only face doing one in that temperature with a strong wind as well, and I made it Woody. We had a hack where he was typical of an under-exercised horse in spring - joggy.  I want to be sure that he is safe to rehome, so I deliberately provoked him quite a bit today. I kept stopping him and making him stand still, and a few times I turned him right round and went away from home again. He was unimpressed with that one :-) !  At the gates to the yard, I made him go past twice before he was allowed to go in. He took it all quite well and did what he was told with only a slight protest and no real argument.

He isn't quite sound on a hard surface in trot on the right fore and there is a fair amount of heat back in the old injury that he came with. I could feel it just with my hand, and the optical thermometer confirmed a 4 degree difference over a two inch piece of his cannon bone. There is also a mark on it, which I suspect is a kick from Ace. Thanks Ace, we just had him right!!  I wondered why the barn doors were bent yesterday morning ....

Ace's turn to do some work soon I hope.

  1. I am trying to blow the warmer weather your way, but I am running out of air. *S* I suspect Woody will come sound again soon. I doubt anyone would be interested in adopting him now with that kind of weather, so you surely have some time.
