I don't know if it is cost cutting or what, but the big snow blowers that we are used to seeing clear the snow have not put in an appearance this year. In consequence the snow clearance has been very slow, and we are still not clear to go upwards the short way to a main road and are having to go downwards and 2 miles out of our way instead.
The route is only just feasible for the lorry and so hunting on Saturday is 50/50 at the moment, due only to snow clearance and not the current weather.
I did motivate myself to go out in the cold and a wind which is still sharp, to work Radar on the arena this evening, just in case we manage to get to a hunt on Saturday. It is the last one of the season and I am pretty desperate to go if I can.
He was a very good boy and we did a solid 25 minutes in trot and canter. He really does have flying changes almost nailed, Which is a huge surprise, but really good fun :-) I wonder if he will be doing tempis before Ace???

it'll be the cost cutting.... but different councils are taking different lines to their cuts ...
ReplyDeleteWhat bugs me, Claire is that before Cheshire East was created,Macclesfield council used huge snow blowers and now the roads are being cleared by two diggers which is e extremely inefficient because they have to keep turning and dumping in lanes that are too narrow. They've also brought down a lot of fencing by dumping snow behind it onto a slope facing towards them. It's a complete mess.
