Ace has rediscovered lateral flexibility and it's like riding a wiggly worm :-) Not a peep out of him as I tacked him up, jumped on, rode out the gate and down the hill, even the bit that is one in four - that's steep!! He insisted that he wanted to trot along the flat bit, so I let him and he was very happy and bouncy. I even rode him all the way back up the hill too. He didn't have any problem carrying me up it and didn't even sweat, though he has quite a thick coat now
It was a relief that he was in a better mood than yesterday. I'm even quite looking forward to riding on the arena next time.
I hacked Radar out as well, and he was completely sound except for treading on a stone in the wrong spot. The weather forecast is dire for Wednesday, so I have given up the idea of hunting then and will wait for Saturday. I prefer a one o'clock start to eleven thirty anyway.

I'm thinking Ace's lateral work is going to be fabulous, considering the wiggly worm comparison. Once again some great news.
ReplyDeleteHope you get to hunt on the weekend. And getting sleep in a bit later would be a plus.
I'm thinking the lateral work may be interesting too, Jean.
ReplyDeleteIf he's managing your hills happily then that's a massive achievement. The recovery time on this proceedure is amazing.
ReplyDeleteIt seems as though he's overcoming his memory of fear quite quickly which is very exciting!

He found it so easy too Lynda. He is almost on a normal hack before a week has passed. I would not rush him to do this, but he simply doesn't have any issue with it, in fact he's asking to trot more than I will let him.
