Woo hoo, back on board again today. I massaged the scars first and there was very little reaction. He was a bit irritated to be saddled, flashing his tail, but I was late doing him today because I was at work. I lunged him for a couple of minutes and all signs of looking back at the saddle have disappeared. I decided to ignore the earlier irritation and in fact I did the girth up a hole.
I got on from the high wall like yesterday with no problems at all. So I took him to the middle of the yard and got on from my normal mounting block. Again, no issues. I wriggled the saddle from side to side and he was unconcerned. He then stretched his nose right down to the floor.
I hopped off, as that was enough. If he offers to move I will let him, but for another week I am chuffed just to sit on him, take my stirrups and rest my legs against his sides, and have him stay so relaxed.
It feels too good to be true, let's hope it's not!

What comes next though Lynda? Biggles flies solo or Biggles flies undone? :-)

More good news. If he dropped his head, then I'd think his back feels pretty good. Otherwise he'd drop his back instead.
ReplyDeleteNo sign whatsoever of him either dropping his back or raising it with tension Jean. Must be a good sign I think. I'm unconcerned that he is not offering to move off - he's a laid back horse these days, and the last time he moved with a rider on board it hurt. All in good time, eh? C
ReplyDeleteSo exciting!!! It really could not be more positive.
ReplyDeleteBest possible result at this stage, isn't it ML?
