Holy moly

Radar has a hole in his foot big enough to pack half a cotton ball into, but he is sound and happy so we had a hack out.  Whatever he trod on did a bit of damage, but what a tough old boot he is, eh?  He's fit to hunt on Saturday if the weather is, and the forecast is improving all the time.

Ace had another session on the arena .  I don't call it schooling because it's very low intensity, with a very low headcarriage, with nothing to stress him.  I'll get some video soon.

He behaved very well, no worrying moments at all. We walked, including some shoulder in and leg yield which were very easy to get. And some trot on big circles and figures of eight, with walk/trot transitions to finish.

He's very keen to work long and low, and of course that's what we want right now for his back, so that's what we do. But it's very interesting, because he has never wanted to work that way on the arena before, he would only do it when he was told to.

He almost offered canter, and when he does I'll take a few strides of it, but I'm in no hurry. We have only been working for ten days, and one day of that was a rest day. He is so far ahead of where we had any expectation of him being that I have to keep pinching myself,

    1. I guess it's because it's only a hole in his sole, Claire, and no longer in anything sensitive.

  3. Hoping my Chance's lameness is just a bruise as well. The weather here has been perfect for riding out on the trails and he's my trail boy. Not sure he's as tough as Radar. He certainly doesn't have the same kind of "go" your boy has.

Fabulous news about Ace, once again. Wanting to stretch down like that must mean his back feels good. Working that way should build up some good muscles for carrying you with a well rounded back. Super!
