Thar's ma boy!!

Look at the concentration on his face!  And not at my balance please, it was my first big hedge this year and I was finding him very difficult to hold.

He came in lame this morning with a huge pulse in one foot. I assumed it was an abscess, since there was nothing else to show for it, and left him standing while I did Ace. I trotted him up on the road, and he was fine. Pulse gone, sound as a bell. So we went out for a hack, wondering what that was all about.

Ace has moved!  Two steps, but far enough for me :-)

I sat on him out on the arena today.  I fully expected him to be a lot more tense out there, which is the only place that he has bucked me off.  I was right, and he stood alternately stamping his hind feet.  I was sure from the feel of his back under my seat that this was anticipation of pain and not actual pain.

When he was quiet, I got off, and then got back on again. I put my legs on his side, enough to qualify as an aid to walk on if he was inclined to move.  He stamped his feet, and I decided to leave my leg on and wait him out, because I could feel no problem from his back.

After a long think about it, he walked off, easily, so I stopped him and got off. Two steps is fine for today, we'll do four tomorrow.

  1. That's a big hedge! I would have headed for that nice little gap in the middle with the rails---coward's way out. *G* At least your teeth are not gritted. Radar looks to be having a jolly time out there!!

As for Ace, three cheers and three cheers more. That was one...well two big steps. Way to go!
