Ace's bsck part way through the operation - ooh errr!
I haven't gone hunting, I didn't feel like it. I'll update about Ace later, meanwhile enjoy the picture :-)

Back from the football now. I just didn't feel like squeezing Ace in before going off to a hunt meet at nine thirty this morning.. I was also less than excited about the venue, close to the airport and using a dull stony bridleway that borders the runway. So I didn't go, and I went for a really nice hack on Radar after doing Ace.
So, Ace. I heated him up and massaged him and he had retained all his flexibility from yesterday. So I put him on the lunge and he did five minutes on each rein in trot. I was slightly concerned that he was taking a look at his back over his shoulder on both reins. He's only ever done that on one rein before, but I guess equal sided is better. I suppose his back must also feel very, very different from how it used to, so there is every reason why he would turn his head to look at it.
His trot was rhythmic and and fluid with a very long stride. And when he stopped, his back was softer and spongier than ever. An hour and a half later that was still the case, and when I checked him just now he was still very loose in the back and the increase in workload appears to have done him nothing but good.
Proof of the pudding will be tomorrow morning, and I'm afraid you'll have to wait until the evening for an update, as I am off really early to the National Dressage Championships.

Fascinating..

You'd have thought they would have used something more sophisticated than a screwdriver, wouldn't you :-))) ???
ReplyDeleteI was shocked how thick it is!

Looks like one of those short stubby ones! What are the thin white lines?

Needles. The first xray I have is the placement of five needles. One is clearly off target, and in the second xray that one and another one have been moved. I don't know why they took this one part way through, but I find it fascinating like you do :-)

Creepy, but, in a way, logical. When you think of it, a screwdriver is just the right size and shape to do the job. Why invent a fancy surgical instrument when something just right is close at hand.
ReplyDeleteOnce again, a good report on Ace. Sorry you and Radar didn't get out to hunt, but if the venue was not appealing, why drag yourself out?
Hope the dressage is worth the trip.
If you can enlarge it Jean you can just see that it has a wider flattened blade on the bottom at a slightly different angle. I guess it must be a specialist tool but it sure looks like a screwdriver!

Back a bit later than expected so just a quick update. Aside from being shocked at a request to work at seven in the morning, Ace was fine. His increased back plasticity has been maintained and he is moving really well. If it's not raining in the morning I'll post some video.
