Oooh that's neat!

He has five unbelievably small holes, considering what was done to him.  They are very slightly off centre, to the left hand side of his spine, the picture is taken at an angle and he is resting the hind leg and tilted towards the camera. He's well and happy and he only looks a little stiff. If all goes well overnight I have been told that I can take him home tomorrow, which is a day early. If so, I'll forget about the day on the other end that they had him when they didn't need him.

I scratched his back for him around the area, to get  the dried blood off him. Yes, you read that right, he still had a big patch of blood on his side from yesterday. Luckily, I am not squeamish but another owner might have been rather upset about it.

I rode Radar before I went over to see Ace. He was really pretty good in walk and trot so I didn't risk spoiling things with any canter.

I'm really settled now. The op is done, the wounds are tiny, all we have to do is get him to maximum flexibilty, about which I will be saying more over the next few days once I have seen the recommended rehab program. (No, I STILL don't have it!).

Right, off for a well deserved snooze. Night'all.

  1. Once again good news. The wounds are amazingly tiny aren't they. My friends has just begun his physio with stretching and inhand pole work. It will be interesting for you to finally get yours. Is Radar missing him?

  2. Radar is sad and lonely, and follows anyone who goes near his field.

I'm about to post the picture.

  3. Great pic, thanks for sharing. Do you know if they took any pictures during surgery? Pleased to hear he is well. Fingers crossed for coming home a day early, I know you'll be much happier when he is back with you (and you can get him cleaned up!)

    1. They have got some more xrays but I think they are pre-op. I'll get them tomorrow.

  4. His back looks great! What an amazing surgical procedure compared to the other options for treating kissing spines. Looking at where the staples are, it's no wonder he reacted to your weight on his back.

Wishing you both well over the recovery period. Again, I will be most interested to find out what the rehab protocol actually is. It would have been nice for you to be all prepared when you took him home. Tomorrow cannot come soon enough!
