Ring a ring of roses ....

Another good boring day with Ace. He was a bit lazy and lacking oomph but I just wanted a quiet safe time so I didn't push anything.  We played with shoulder in, lengthening and shortening the trot, walk/trot transitions and finished on some trot figures of eight and maintaining the outline through the change of rein.

Radar was classic radaR. He did some pretty settled walk, but only agreed to trot nicely on a square where he had to rebalance on each corner or fall over. But the canter! Eventually he did agree to canter not belt hell for leather across the arena, but it took a long, long time and a lot of repetition. SH was watching and laughing. He's not seen radaR school before and he has a sneaking admiration for how hard he fights to be allowed just to run around like a mad thing :-)    We were out there an awful long time before he gave in and cantered nicely, but I don't mind at this time of year because it's very intense work physically and it will really help to get him fit.

C
