I didn't ride today because it rained all afternoon. But I did lunge Ace for twenty minutes to start to accustom him to the bit of kit I will be using after the operation to get him to stretch his back. I'll get a photo but basically it's a very thick soft rope which goes over his back and comes through his front legs and clips to the bit. Incredibly simple and easy to use, and very effective indeed at getting him to stretch. I have no idea why it works, he can raise his head if he wants. It just seems to make him want to move stretched out and down. He's really bouncing in it, too.
Meanwhile the bill has arrived for the xrays and injections - five hundred quid so far!!! He'd better not buck me off again, the little toad!

I've seen similar rigs. Not sure why they work so well, but the horse just seems to "want" to go down and round in them.
ReplyDeleteI agree about the bucking you off. At those prices, he needs to be rather angelic. Then again, I've yet to see a horse open his own wallet to pay.
I always tell my Boys I've spent their carrot money, so they'd best be good, or no more treats. *G*
Carrot money is all gone for this year. He cost me nearly a grand last year too!
