Man on a mission.

Well what glorious Bank Holiday weather for us to do the Farm Ride. It was beautifully sunny, but not too hot at eleven o'clock. Radar was thrilled when he heard the lorry engine start and he had a whale of a time. We got our eye in by about the sixth jump, and we finished with a terrifically judged 'long one' at the 4 ft steeplechase fence quite close to the end.

I didn't want to rush round, but he had other ideas (of course!) and we found a mid-point where the walk was marching and the canter was not an all out gallop. My hip joint, which h has been hurting a bit for a week or two, doesn't seem any the worse for the experience, but we'll see what happens when I get up after sitting down for a while.

We were overtaking people without leaving a walk - he could compete for Britain at speed walking :-)    We'vew done about forty jumps in six  miles, which should get those muscles tones up for hunting the Saturday after next.

And today, of course, it's only ONE WEEK, until Ace goes in for his operation. It will soon all be over and we will know whether he is fixed or not.

  1. Hope your hip is OK. I hate it when aches and pains get in the way of having fun! It certainly sounds as if Radar doesn't have any. *G*

Now, if you can, try a little arena ride with him tomorrow to see if your theory of interval training works. I know he'd normally have a day off, but it never hurts to experiment.

It's getting exciting for Ace. The true countdown begins.

  4. Lucky Radar - to get to do what he loves and to have a rider brave enough and talented enough to stick with him!

  5. I'm nowhere near as brave as I used to be. I was looking at the British Eventing affiliated fences today and wondering how on earth I used to jump them. Mind you, one of them killed a NZ rider at the weekend, so I'm not too bothered that I've lost it.

  6. I would say, not that you have lost bravery, but gained wisdom! Surely everyone agrees...
