Dull was hiding around the corner. Boring was just having a snooze. No-one could possibly call the paces that Ace now does 'bland'. But apart from that, I have my German Dumbblood back!!! So quiet, calm and sweet. And the movement in his walk - bears little relationship to any walk he's ever done before, including at his best after the injections.
I've had another text chat with the vet today and we are full steam ahead now for the operation. And until then, two bute a day and 1400mg of omeprazole a day and keep on working. I'm more than happy to do that if he is as nice as he was today.
I didn't lunge before I got on, I just tacked up, got on in the yard (with air jacket, I'm not that daft :-) and rode out of the gate. He hardly spooked at all, the sun was shining, we were both happy and all's right with the world today.

Good news, indeed. Makes the surgery so much more hopeful.
ReplyDeleteAs we suspected, Ace is much more sensitive to pain now than he was before. Can't blame him. It's the first time in his life he's ever felt this good. Poor kid.
And, you should be honored that he trusts you enough to know you will listen to him when he "complains." He is finding a language to use to talk to you and you are responding.
I'm honoured by his trust in me Jean. The way he switches from unrideable when in pain to sweet and kind when not is amazing. I'll never fail in future to give him the benefit of the doubt.
