Radar got a hack this morning. Lovely, still stonkingly fit in spite of lack of exercise under saddle. Thank goodness.
And Woody this evening. Who is now, a lot of time, producing a walk to die for, the like I have never sat on before. And in between times saying "get off my mouth" and shooting backwards into the wall. Silly boy, he does get his knickers in a twist sometimes. Luckily the wall is safe, non damaging and immediately makes him realise that backwards is not a sensible option. I worked through some real frustration on his part that I wanted him to engage his back and hold the bit, and finally actually managed to get him pushing the bit forwards into my hands. Quite a breakthrough, I was very pleased.
Tomorrow I plan to give poor abandoned Ace some quality attention. I just hope that overnight he dries off and manages to rub off the two inch thick layer of mud he has on every exposed bit of himself - it's quiet funny seeing his eyes poking out through it, with fetchingly mud-mascara'd eyelashes!
Who knows, maybe tomorrow will also be the first time in a while that I don't see my early morning orange juice and tea twice in 20 minutes :-) Too much detail? Sorry!

Good for Radar and glad you managed to get him out and not wear yourself out before you got to ride the soon-to-be marvelous Woody--only soon-to be because of that backwards tendency.
ReplyDeleteLove that first time the horse actually stretches for that bit. The moments of connection make all the difference in the world.
Your poor tummy. Do you have any ginger ale? That might stay down better. You don't want to get dehydrated on top of everything else.
Trying to keep my fluids up Jean. Tea is drink of preference - after all I AM English :)
