I hope that it goes without saying that I would never have done the Farm Ride with Woody yesterday if I thought that he would not be sound today. But I am still absolutely thrilled to report that he is very happy and stonkingly sound today, and more confident than ever yet on the frozen mud.
48 hours is the real danger point for soft tissue injury, but I don't expect to see any difference in him tomorrow, either. What a wonderful project he has been so far :-)
It is almost certain that the hunt will be off on Saturday due to frozen ground, which will mean that Woody will be the next horse who hunts, on December 22nd.
I actually got the gumption to ride Ace today, for the first time in days. We were indoors because the arena was frozen, and we could only walk. He kept on asking to be allowed to go faster and was very disappointed when I told him that we didn't have enough space. We did some leg yield, some shoulder in and some slower/faster walk, all very nice. He is developing an enormous length of stride and some lovely mobility through his back. And what great behaviour for a young, fit and under-exercised horse.
Poor old Radar might get to play tomorrow.
To finish with some astonishing news, Campero has been asked to join the London 2013 parade in full Spanish regalia. How about that! Topping off a wonderful year which he finishes by routinely being placed first or second in Elementary dressage competitions. What great boys my rehabs are turning out to be :-)

This is really great news. I know you do the Blog, which records how the horses progress, but do you send it to anyone "official" so that other horses in a similar situation could benefit?
ReplyDeleteI post regularly on the Horse and Hound forum Judith, but the Rockley Blog is the best resource that there is. I am only doing one at a time, Nic does seven !
DeleteI am contemplating telling the vet, since both of them, coincidentally, were under the same vets though they were nowhere near each other. I also make sure that my own vet knows ALL about it - tee hee!

Great news again. How exciting to think Woody will be your "other" hunting horse.
ReplyDeleteAnd as for Campero--even more exciting. Will the parade be televised to you can see him?
You should be beaming from ear to ear about now...and feeling better every day--I hope.
I think it should be on the telly Jean, here's the pointer:

Good news about the lovely little spanish horse.
ReplyDeleteI had wondered how he got on.
I get updates regularly about him Suzanne, but they love him so much that I just leave them to it. I can hardly believe that I gave them to him for Christmas TWO YEARS ago!
