Sustainable change?

I took Ace out for a hack and he was much quieter than normal for him. This was surprising because it was very windy, there had been heavy rain leaving patches on the road, and there was intermittent bright sun casting a strong shadow.

There are three reasons I can think of for this, since he was clearly not ill, but bright and chirpy.   One is that he was just feeling quieter than usual. Two is that he is getting used to hacking more often. Three is that he is responding to the continuing absence of pain.

Or maybe a bit of all three, who knows? I know what my hopes are.

I also bounced up to my friend's house on Radar and bounced back down again. He'll be in regular work from now until the hunting starts in September.

    1. Well I hope you had to pay for that with a start at some ungodly hour in the morning :-))))

You are so lucky you have such a long season - why is yours longer than any other pack I know? Not by a week or two, by absolutely months!

  2. I think it does take a while for pain memory to fade. I'd suspect that has a lot to do with it. Glad again to hear good news about "our" boy. *G*

  3. This is why I am so determined not to wait for the injections to wear off before we operate Jean. It would feel like a betrayal to have him get used to being pain free and then have it return.

There's a miniscule chance that he could be OK without the operation, so small that I don't think it is even worth considering.
