Is Radar ill????

OK, perhaps it was just the heat, don't panic :-)  But for the first time in more than 4 years that he has been with me, Radar had to be asked to get a move on!  'It's too hot', he moaned. 'It's too bad'  I said. To be fair, he didn't take a lot of persuasion.

And then there was Ace, on his first hack with his new back. I waited until it had clouded over and got a bit cooler and I have just got back in. Only time will tell whether the heat or the injections produced this result, but he did not do one single electric shock spook. That's a first. Also a first, and this time first time ever whether schooling or hacking, he did not do a poo. That really IS surprising.  He did a few looky looks, and one or two foot shuffles, but the whole-body electric shock spooks just never happened.

I've had a chat with the vet today and she is very pleased that I have decided to bite the bullet and go immediately for the tendon snip operation for kissing spines. It will be done in October, after the stuff she put in last week has all gone, but before it loses all its affects. The surgeon's name is Graham Monroe and he is very expert, having spent 4 years working with racehorses in a huge Newmarket specialist practice and several years since doing orthopedic surgery for various vet practices.

I can't believe how much he has changed in just a week. At this rate I'll be complaining that he's a donkey to hack out on :-)

  1. I will be delighted if you start complaining that Ace is too quiet out on a hack. That would be great news indeed.

Maybe Radar was just being sensible and conserving his energy.
I always think he's a lot smarter than we may give him credit for.

Glad to hear the vet agrees with your decision regarding Ace's back. October would be a good time as it will have, I hope, cooled off about then and you'd have some good weather for recuperation.
