Rain on its way!

I've often found horses spooky when a weather front is coming in, and Ace was no exception today. We went out for a hack and he twitched and jumped and oohed and aaahed and ummed. But I still felt that it was nothing like he used to be. I focussed on keeping his back loose, which means I have to keep his head down and there were times that I had to insist on that, but he did it.

Talking of his back, it's a different shape today.  I wish I had photos, but normally his wither would come down into his back and from there his back rose in a straight line to his hips. Now, there is much more of a 'bowl' shape where I put the saddle. My first thought was that the middle of his back had sunk, but lookin carefully at it, what has actually happened is that the loin area has risen. It's also very spongy. All good news, I think.

I hacked out Radar yesterday evening. Boy was he pushy! Very full of himself!!!  It really is easy to keep a horse that loves moving so much fit :-)

  1. Even when he's a bit naughty, Ace is still good. *G* Interesting about his back. Hope it's a good sign of even better changes to come.

As for Radar, I've said it before--he's really quite a character.
