We have an entry for E53 for tomorrow and the weather forecast is really superb. So since I got out of work after less than a couple of hours this morning, I thought I would ride Ace and see how he behaved. He was pretty good to get on but he would not trot without bucking. He did a couple of serious ones at one point but I stayed on this time and gave him a boot to tell him that it was naughty. After that he did some decent trot and canter with no more issues.
So, if we go tomorrow it is possible that he will be extremely difficult in the warm up, though that is unlikely. More likely is that he will spook in the test at the letters and ruin the test.
So do we go or don't we go? On the plus side, a day out would be nice and the place has a lovely cafe!

The cafe clinches it then ;-)
ReplyDeletego for the day out, if nothing else..
ReplyDeletewhy don't you put some letters up in your arena? get him used to them...or don't tell me, you have, and it doesn't matter that he knows what they are (that is more likely, i guess...)
I have letters on the arena that also flap in the breeze Claire - he barely notices them :-)
ReplyDeleteCafe is definitely the deciding factor Lynda. A latte and a panini I think.

As long as he doesn't get dangerous, it's worth the risk. When Tucker's tummy was bothering him, he was downright scary at a show. Just don't let your determination to ride him through it outweigh your common sense.
ReplyDeleteOtherwise...it's a great idea and I agree that it would be good for the both of you to get out there and just do it!
Nice cafe at the showground? Boy, around here the food is usually low on the quality scale or too darn high priced to be worth it--catering trucks. *sigh*
Yup it got dangerous :-(
DeleteThe coffee was good though.
More when I post later after a snooze.

How is $5 or 6 for a freshly made tuna and cheese panini, Jean???
