We've been to the panto. For my American friends who have not seen one it is completely impossible to understand, and unique to the UK. No other country in the world does it, I don't think. Jolly good fun!
I had the weather to give Radar a last workout before the Boxing Day meet this morning and he was really quite good. The schooling is definitely producing results now and he did some smashing canter and made a real effort to keep his lolloppy great frame up and together.
Ace's hock is pretty good. He looks sound though I have not trotted him up, but I did turn them all out today.
This December weather has thrown the ultimate test at the arena drainage. Record overnight rainfall and not a drop of standing water on the surface in the morning, and no sign whatsoever of any breakover down the banks, which are mostly still mud and would show the path of a trickle of water very clearly. He really did do a good job with it.
Of course I have already had my main Christmas present with my arena, so anything in the parcels which are at the end of my bed tomorrow will be a bonus.
MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYBODY
Merry Christmas to you too! The arena sounds absolutely wonderful and Radar's progress is on the upswing. What more could you want for perfect presents?
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to the Boxing Day report.
I hope you are having as good a day as me, Jean and everyone.
ReplyDeleteAce's leg looks normal. The weather is good enough for the hunt to be on tomorrow. Santa brought me a Kindle and it's GREAT and I'm a technophobe but I still think it's brilliant for booksters like me.
I am full of food and not much less full of a bottle of £50 Laurent Perrier champagne that someone gave SH for doing a good bit of work for them. Stunning stuff! We should have saved it for a really speshul occasion but somehow it winked it's little eyes at us and we succombed.
Off for a snooze now, probably won't wake up for hours!

Oh that naughty little apostrophe in there! Its not it's.

Ironically, as I was driving to church this morning the BBC news feed was broadcasting a nice little story about panto! Bad jokes, rowdy music, hiss and boo, and men in drag.
ReplyDeleteThey did mention that some of the panto entrepreneurs had tried to export the panto to the rest of the world but the rest of the world, "Just doesn't get it." *LOL*
Sounds a bit like Monty Python's Flying Circus on steroids. And some of the Python humor is lost on people with the wrong kind of sense of humor. You need to be a bit "Brit" to enjoy it completely I think.
So, despite being "across the pond," I now have a fair understanding of the panto tradition and I didn't even have to research it on Google.
Merry Christmas again and have fun hunting!
