Well it certainly isn't fear with Ace. And he has learnt his lesson, but not yet thoroughly enough to stop trying it on. He was constantly trying to turn home today, but he went forward every time again when turned back around and told to get on with it. At "lamb corner" the twins were out again, but this time it took only two dismounts to solve the problem. He really does understand, but he is just trying a few last attempts to test whether he really has to do what he is told.
Why don't I stop him turning? Well, to do that would require me to ride in shoulder-in right for the whole ride, which I don't want to do. He always spins left, and if held right when trying to spin left, he rears. Also, I want it to be his decision to keep going in the right direction, not me forcing him to do so. We are nearly there!
We are also nearly there with SH. His potassium levels are in range tonight, and so is his clotting score. His heart rythmn is settled with beta blockers and if all that stays the same until tomorrow morning then I should have him back at home in the afternoon. He is forcing himself to eat to get out of there - the sight of food makes him look as if he is going to throw up, poor boy.
Fingers crossed, he's going stir crazy in that little room all day!

I was not at all hungry after my surgery. Don't know if it's an aftereffect of the anesthesia or what, but I just had no appetite.
ReplyDeleteI guess Ace is just going to keep on trying until he realizes you are not a pushover. As time goes on, you'll have to figure out how to channel that determination of his into a good competitive spirit. He just needs to figure out what his job is so he can start focusing on using his energy to get it done.
