Sixes for our half passes today, and not one "not half pass" comment. All our work is paying off. But he was hopping in the shoulder in, which I think is his hocks troubling him, as I have often heard of this as an indicator that they have hock problems. So we lost a lot of marks for a lack of rythm. In spite of that we also got six for his better medium trot, which is also coming along nicely. Then at the end of the test we blew it! He tried to change instead of counter canter, and in stopping him from changing I stopped him completely. He was then so upset at having misunderstood me, he swung around instead of halting at the end. Still, we scored 55.71%, which was about what we deserved.
I have booked him in for the hock injections next week, because he did not used to hop in shoulder in, so I figure he must need some help. We'll see if they change anything.
I was very happy with the progress he has made today, we are slowly but steadily moving in an upwards direction.

At least he didn't buck, which is how Toby told me his hocks hurt. The injections made a huge difference in him. I should think, with his better balanced conformation, Jazz should react even better.
ReplyDeleteGood work on the half passes!! That's quite an improvement.
