I got much more assertive with Ace today and it worked well. He started off trying to spook at the stone that he knocked off the wall the other day, but I just made him work harder every time he went past it until he gave up and behaved nicely.
I took Radar out for a 2 hour hack and got a bit wet, but I think he will be fit enough to hunt if we go and get his jumping muscles toned up some time in the next couple of weeks.
Butie never ceases to amaze. I realised after I had opened the gate that I had forgotten to put his muzzle on. So I took it out into the field wondering how long it would take to get close enough to get it on him. In spite of the fact that I had it in clear view, he just let me walk up and put it on. What a lovely boy to make no fuss about it. I gave him a jolly good back rub as a reward.

Seems that taking charge when you ride Ace is the key. Sounds like a plan.
ReplyDeleteI would rather imagine you had more than a plain snaffle on Radarrocket....*S*
And Buttie is a wonder. My Boys would have evaded me for an hour. He a just a sweet pushover for a back rub.
I had teh mikmar western bit on the Radarrocket Jean. Jolly good job too, he was still pulling up over half a mile of 1 in 10 hill after being out over an hour and a half. He's fit!
ReplyDeleteButts was a total sweetie, he never complain about the muzzle at all, he just comes over to have it put on.

Been busy for a day or two but I'll report on Ace tomorrow.
