THAT's better

Now I KNOW life is getting back to normal. I WANTED to ride today, it wasn't a duty. And I am looking forward to riding two tomorrow, or maybe three! Radar just loved working yesterday, you could see the satisfaction all over his great big black face. He was SO happy that I can't deny him the pleasure of having a job to do any longer. I must ride him.

This evening I rode Jazz. He was doing some very decent trot as a warm-up, with some good attempts at lengthening. I asked for canter left and got it straight away. Light in my hands, properly bent, up in front. I popped him into half pass left and got the biggest crossing by far that he has ever offered, and at the corner I asked for a flying change and got it, swiftly followed by canter/walk from a seat aid alone. WOW! How could I beat that? We had only been working 20 minutes, but I got off immediately and turned him out, after praising him to the hilt.

I tried Ace's new bridle and bling V browband on him today - he looks spectacular in it. I'll get a photo tomorrow but I'll have to plait his forelock first.

SH walked FIVE miles today with no problem. What a recovery!!  He is obiously fit enough to travel to a horse show now so I plan to book for Wednesday. I can't make up my mind whether to take Ace or Jazz. Votes please to help me make up my mind. Both is not an option, they are so far apart in class that the timing would not work.

What do you think??

  1. Oh my, I am totally torn. While Jazz would certainly be the more competitive at this time, I think Ace could use the experience. So, with an eye towards desensitizing him to new adventures, since you've had a bit of a layoff, take Ace. That way the pressure's off you to worry about placing or going for some kind of goal score. Save that for when Jazz has been back at regular work for a bit longer.

Did that make any sense at all?? *G*

  3. Yes, probaby less pressure with Ace. Just to try to treat it as an outing for everyone and not think "this is a competition and I must try to improve my marks.)

I am so impressed with SH - walking 5 miles. Wow.
That is some walk for someone who had a GA how long ago?

  4. GA was Monday 16th Judith. He's amazing isn't he? He is just so determined to get back to normal. It was interesting in hospital, they had terrible trouble getting him to react to warfarin, and as you know he came out of the anaesthetic far too fast, twice! They said that his body just fights off the effect of drugs. He gets tired, and he can't pull things or lift more than a kettle because of his split breast bone, but other than that he's completely normal.

If we'd known it was going to be this easy we would have worried less!
