I have run through tomorrows test with Ace, who was a bit shocked to suddenly have 10m bends introduced to his work. It's not something we have done at home before. He is doing P10 quite nicely, and my objective for tomorrow is simply for him to behave better and be more relaxed than he was last time.
I did some canter changes with Jazz as well, which we have not done for a while. I just felt like doing them for fun. He is getting better and better at jumping through in one movement exactly when I ask him to. And it WAS fun :-)
Jazz looks so superb when he trots across the field at the moment. Far more impressive than Ace, in fact, and Radar looks like a complete donkey beside him (he's not!). I measured him, too, and he is only now about 1/4 inch off 16.3, so his work has made his wither come up and up and up. When I bought him he was 16.1 and a 1/2 and level, with his withers and rump the same height. That didn't change much until last autumn when I started to reschool him after getting things wrong over the summer. The result has been this increase in muscle bulk that makes him look so incredibly impressive, and has raised his wither.
12.03 tomorrow. Should be fun!

As you have noted before, Ace is a very different style of horse from Jazz. Jazz is all power and Ace will be the ballet dancer. How nice to have two such talented boys to enjoy.
ReplyDeleteWishing you calm and happy Ace at the show. For now it's all about getting the experience for him and you are setting excellent goals for the both of you....Oh yes, don't YOU forget to breathe!! *G*
Above all, have fun, otherwise it's just not worth going.
Hope you have fun today & that SH enjoys being back out "on the scene" ;-)
ReplyDeleteIt was fun guys!
