Steady on Radar!

I don't really know what caused me to put a martingale on Radar this morning. I have only ever used one on him out hunting, and rarely ever use one on any horse at home. But I sure am glad that I did!

I took him up onto the field across the road for a few large canter circles. He went bananas with joy. He just couldn't stop himself from moving as fast as I would allow him. If I hadn't had the martingale on there is no doubt at all that it would have been a full speed gallop, for which there simply wasn't room between a sheep fence and a stone wall :-0 ! It's a big field but not big enough for Radar at top speed !!

I had to laugh, but he was a right handful.  Fit for hunting? There already I think :-)

I've been on a muzzle buying spree and also glued sheepkin patches to Ace's to stop his rubbing hair away from his face. Everyone is on charcoal and on yea-sacc and now we will wait for the grass to stop going crazy with the alternating sun and rain. Ace is looking wonderful, thankfully. He is standing really confidently on his feet and swinging around the concrete yard looking more relaxed that he ever has.  See the comments on yesterday's post for an explanation of why the brewer's yeast being off was such an issue. The yea-sacc should take over, but I have only just started feeding it. Fingers crossed Jazz will be rock stomping again soon.

  1. Thank goodness...I am a little less worried about Ace and Jazz now.

Radar is a riot. He's kind of like a hyperactive kid let loose at recess. I guess the other boys don't quite offer him enough amusement in the pasture. Perhaps if they spent more time frolicking and less time eating they'd be better off! *G* Glad you thought of the martingale. Maybe it should be regular equipment for Radar now that he's in shape.

Spot on Jean! I am still smiling, he was such a naughty but loveable boy. He just adores moving, the faster the better as far as he is concerned.
