The whole area is crawling .....

.... with an infestation of BT Openreach teams trying desperately to trace all the faults caused by a lightening strike on the Tuesday before last. It has melted the cables together in so many places that they can't even trace where the breaks are. When they find and fix one, they are finding that there is another fused section somewhere in the same cable. The poor guys are tearing their hair out, so the ones that were with me this morning all got a nice hot brew of their choice. It was the least I could do before I came down to Tesco to get a broadband signal on a dongle!

Looking at the tornado damage in the US though, I am grateful that we do not have problems like those poor people do.

The BT men were needing access to the house so  I had to stay home with Ace today when I meant to go on a short hack and relax. As it happens, he did the test sections that I have been practising really, really well today and I am very chuffed with him.

Especially as when I got them in this morning it was sleeting, and Ace had only had a thin rug on overnight and his back was very stiff. I warmed him up under his lights, but he was still very twitchy when I got on, so I spent a long time in walk until he freed up. And even with that additional incentive, he still hardly made a peep at the blue barrels. And then did that superb work. What a clever boy he is turning into .

Radar and I had a decent hack yesterday and  he was quite a character. He isn't really fit so I didn't want him belting up any hills, but he stood at the bottom of them hopping up and down on the spot saying 'lemme go, lemme go!!'. It was very funny.

I wonder if spring will come back any time soon, we have winter again today and no mistake.

  1. Sounds a bit like the poor guys who had to repair our electrical grid after hurricane Sandy. Every time they turned around there was something else that had to be fixed before whatever they were fixing was going to work again.

Good for your two Boys in the meantime. They are both entertaining you just perfectly while you are "broadbandless."

  2. It is surprising how vulunerable internet is to thunderstorms. Happened here a couple of years ago. It is screamingly inconvenient, particularly when more and more has to be done on-line. Cattle movements, VAT, in fact more or less anything concerned with Government - and they aren't too sympathetic if things are late!

    1. That's outrageous Judith! Farms are some of the most likely places to get cut off, but of course you know that already.
