Radar back in school

Radar didn't think much of schooling this afternoon. He tried all his normal tricks of rushing out from under my seat, pulling into the snaffle that I had him in, refusing to turn, squidging back underneath me, on and on. I wouldn't give in and in the end he had to, so we got some nice flexible walk and then went on to some reasonably rhythmic trot, too. If I carry on as we are going, then he will be fit to be seen out in company some time this summer.
He did surprise me at one point. He tried to dash off around the arena when I first got on. I held onto the bit and then he wouldn't walk out, so I flicked him with the whip - and he bucked!  I'm not sure he's ever bucked before, but he certainly hasn't done it for a long, long time if so.

Ace was pretty good too today. We were practising the canter of E53 - walk at teh end of the long side, trot before the corner, canter at C, circle 10m at the corner, lengthen the long side, 10m bend at  A and back to the long side and counter canter to the corner. The second time through he got it really well.

We also practised trot to halt and rein back 5 strides (though I do six so he does not anticipate). Then we finished on some mediums across the diagonals, just becuase they are such fun.

  1. As I said the other day, who wants to school when hacking out is so much fun? *G* On the plus side, at least you are getting Radar to work well for you in much less time than it used to take.

As for Ace? What can I say? I thought the more difficult test might suit him. Seems to be working out. Now all you need is a place to show off!
