Bendy Boy is |Back

Well it must have been the noise that SH was making yesterday because Ace was back to his bendy self today and has done some  very good work. I kept  the session short because he's done two quite strenuous days in a row. He got a much better travers than yesterday - in fact an order of magnitude better, and in consequence we did get a bit of half pass too.  A quick canter-whizz-canter and then we stopped.

So I rode Radar, who was in Springsteen mode!!  'Baby I was bo-orn to runnnnn' :-)))
Forty minutes before he would walk  nicely. First he hauled at my hands in the snaffle. I was about to go and put the pelham on but I decided to work through it instead. Then he refused to turn the bends. Then he did his 'run for the hills' trick to try and get out of working nicely. Then, just like normal, he suddenly gave me some lovely walk serpentines with a gentle, giving contact and nice changes of bend.

I did one quick canter to see if I could hold him OK in the snaffle. To my surprise that went quite well. He's not at all fit at the moment, and the sun is out (surprise!) and it's heating up out there, so I stopped.

Ace went out without a rug on last night for the first time. There was a frost and I was a bit worried about how his back would be. But he put himself under his lights - and didn't want to leave them at the end of the time - and he was absolutely fine. That's a bit of a relief, I didn't want to have to rug him all summer.

  1. The boys are so easily distracted. Kind of like a classroom full of teenagers. *G*

Glad to know Ace does not need a rug. Now all the warm weather just has to do is kick in full time instead of teasing us all.

As for RadaR...he just doesn't seem to want to go away forever. But somehow, I think it makes Radar all the more endearing. Just goes so show what a personality he has!
