Glad I did that

I made myself hack Radar out this morning because he may get a hunt on Saturday and he needs to be fit. Half way through, I realised just how much I was enjoying myself. He has turned into a fantastic hack. Always forward thinking, but happy to accept the speed that I want to go at; never spooky; always in a good mood. He's ten this year and he has really grown into his body and matured mentally as well.

I meant to ride Ace this evening in the barn but I slept too late, still recovering from this darned whooping cough that wipes out a night's sleep every couple of days and today left me in a paroxysm, dribbling on the floor of Morrison's, which is rather embarassing to say the least.

Woody is due a hack tomorrow and if I have enough energy I will also school Ace.  Woody is getting more and more confident in character as well as on his feet. This morning he was so relaxed that when I went outside the other two were at the door, knowing food was about to arrive, but Woody went up the other end of the barn and had a casual roll in the dirt. There's nonchalant for you :-)

  1. Love a horse not totally focused on his stomach...

Ironically, tonight I was at dinner with friends and the topic of vaccines came up. One of my friends mentioned that now, for the first time in years, they are recommending whooping cough vaccines for senior citizens. Interesting. Wonder if the illness has suddenly taken an upswing.

Good thing you have that special medicine known as more than one good horse to speed your recovery. And Radar seems to be a high potency version. *G*

  2. I would strongly recommend anyone who can get a whooping cough vaccine to get one, even if you have to pay. I've never felt so ill, for so long, in my entire life.

Radar is, though, a fine antidote :-)
