I have realised that the dressage sheet I got yesterday deserves the opening of a bottle of bubbly, and I'm not talking bath unguents here :-)
It is the first, ever, sheet I have had in FIVE WHOLE YEARS that does not point out a lack of submission.
WOW. He did it! At last!!
I'm smiling fit to bust. My friend was stunned by the video and how forward and active he was, too.
I've just schooled Ace and had a little difficulty getting forward walk/trot transitions, but cracked it by sitting for the transition so I could keep him in front of me. Other than that, he gave me calm, good work. I will be taking him to compete again soon to see how we are progressing.

That does sound really positive, what comments did you get for the lateral work?
ReplyDeleteAha! Despite the comment from the judge, that is a wonderful result. Just goes to show that what you were feeling when you felt Jazz was cooperating so nicely was total reality! Lovely, lovely.
ReplyDeleteAs long as you put showing and scores in perspective, it's worth your time to compete. When all you go out for is a win over everyone else, instead of your own "demons," it loses its value.
One "not half pass" Tracey, and other than that one 6 two 5's, for HP which was about what they deserved. The shoulder in was wobbly on one rein, comment "varying angle", which was true and it was not as good as he usually does but the other was a 6. His half pass is lacking bend and crossing on the video, but willing and forward and a good base to work for more from now that we have .....
ReplyDeletesubmission!
I go for the ciabattas in the cafe Jean :-)

I think sitting also helps them engage their hindquarters, thus a better transition.
ReplyDeleteAs for Jazz, getting the submission and forward is such a huge accomplishment. I have often read that you yourself know how you have done in a test. And you do know. The judge has no idea how Jazz used to be.
I think I would enjoy a bubble bath more than a bottle of the bubbly stuff. How boring I am.
I like both at the same time :-)
