The Butcher's Dog

Woody may not yet be quite as fit as the butcher's dog, but he's certainly getting there very fast. On our hack today I trotted him up a long and steep hill that I use to get Radar hunting fit. My intention was to turn for home when he ran out of steam. He didn't!

He trotted right to the top hardly out of breath, and I turned for home for time reasons instead. And also because I didn't want  too big an increase in work in one leap. He is certainly going to be fit enough to go to the farm ride, and if he is sound tomorrow then I think we have a date.

My plan then, if he gets to the farm ride and stays sound after it, is to take him to the Children and Beginners meet of the hunt on Decempber 22nd. That would be an unbelieveable milestone to achieve so soon, but it seriously looks a possibility at the moment.

He's made another significant change somewhere in his body in the last couple of days. There is a noticeable loosening of his shoulders. There is more to come, but what incredible progress he is making!

  1. Great news, again! I am out of breath just thinking about that hill. I'm sure my horses would, shamefully, be out of breath too.

Woody's continuing soundness is such a positive development. I'm betting he's going to go on that farm ride and the hunt, just as you hope. Well done.
