We are both shattered! Not only did someone clock the distance we covered as 14 miles on their GPS, but all the fast stuff was in deep and energy-sapping mud. Plus there were hills, and then we also hardly checked, otherwise we would have run out of daylight. I have just about managed to get them all put to bet for the night before collapsing in front of my pooter.
We had a lovely afternoon, with blue skies and 10 hedges. The first was a bit of a surprise. The field master jumped it and I thought it looked a bit big, and then when I was a stride away I thought it was very big. I realised that if I hesitated then he would stop, so I gave him a nudge, and over he went with no trouble. The other 9 were all a lot smaller, but there were 7 in a row on the last leg, so that was fun.
We got back to the lorries almost in darkness, in spite of having kept the checks to a minimum.
Woody was sound on the lunge today, and Ace is really chilled and soppy. I shall ride them both tomorrow. Meanwhile I'm off for a bath if I can find enough energy to climb the stairs.

Sounds like an absolutely happy tired, however. You and Radar must have had a grand time!
ReplyDeleteSleep well and restore your energy for your other two wonderful boys.

Ok, pooter means computer but what does soppy mean? 14 miles! Wow. I love the feeling of really going someplace on a horse. And I love being tired from lots of riding.
ReplyDeleteOne of the reasons I love winter is that I can take a bath at the end of the day, rather than a shower, with lavender bubble bath.
Soppy? They don't use that expression around Cambridge then :-) ?
ReplyDeleteLet me see ..... a heavyweight boxer cuddling and kissing a poodle puppy - that would be soppy.
Lavender bubble bath - lovely. I have Badedas - horse chestnut - how appropriate, I've only just realised.
