Where's the Ark?

60 hours continuous rain, some torrential. Wow, what have we done to deserve this?

In the unlikely event that there is any hunting on Saturday (one pack have already cancelled) I took Radar out for a hack in the rain. I was rewarded by the rain actually stopping, which was a relief. He was unsettled and a bit argumentative, so he ended up going much further than I was going to bother doing. I was pleased because he needed the work but I was trying to chicken out of it.

I've put Ace on the lunge and he is so close to sound it's almost impossible to see, but he's making agonisingly slow progress with this last 5%    I have decided he is so little lame - most people would not be able to spot it - that I am going to ride him tomorrow. If it makes it worse, then at least the additional inflammation should finally harden off the last bit for good.

Well, I say I'm going to ride him tomorrow, but not if it's raining again!

  2. Claire's pictures of the flooding are horrible. I guess your hilltop location is a blessing in this kind of weather.

I don't blame Radar for being fussy. I think the weather would get on his nerves too, particularly because he may well have heard the hunt might be canceled....the hounds do talk, you know. *G*

As for Ace, it's always a hard call. But riding him may well tell you what you need to do, and it might well be the "therapy" he needs to push that splint to finally heal.

Hope you have a dry day!!

  3. I was just reading weather news for the UK. Yikes! If I could draw, there would be a picture of a riding helmet-snorkel assembly:)

  4. Well, that's satisfying - to get out for a longer ride than you expected, and to have the rain stop.
