Ace is still not quiiiiite sound. He is absolutely fine on one rein, but on the other I can still see a tiny head-nod, when the splint is pointing to the inside, on the outside foreleg. He was more than a little wild on the lunge and is obviously feeling very full of himself. Only a day or two now before I can ride him again, I hope.
Meanwhile, here is Radar doing his stuff from Saturday. Page 15 is full of shots of him in the group on the flat, but not very exciting. Number 262 , 310, 311 and 346 are also him but this one is the best.

It would kind of make sense that traveling with the splint on the inside would make him feel it more. But his recovery does sound promising.
ReplyDeleteTook a bit of work to search for all the pictures, but you are right the one you linked to is the best of the lot. Some of those jumps look like fun. I think the only thing that would dissuade me would me not exactly knowing what the landing side is like. Some of those hedges are really overgrown and, I suspect much more difficult than they may appear from the camera lens.
That's where walking the course beforehand for an event was such a bonus.
Radar looks great and so do you. There is a decided boldness in your jumping, that's for sure.
The only clue you get about the landing is whether it's a drop or not, and only then if the Field Master hasn't asked me to give him a lead, and if he is far enough ahead to watch him land and see how much of him disappears :-o! It's part of the fun :-)
ReplyDeleteI must confess, Jean, that the part we jump is normally trimmed, as it was in that case. The hedge was big but it had none of that frilly stuff on the top that makes the photo look so impressive!
I wish that jacket didn't make me look like a hunchback!
