All hunts off. Hound exercise on the roads planned and then called off. Boys who refused to go into the field this morning and put themselves back in the barn. Minus 5 outside now and getting colder. And nine people going stir crazy, two with two legs, three with four legs but no mane, and four with four legs and a mane.
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Incredible. We often have cold spells like that, but it seems you are being tortured beyond the norm. I don't blame the horses for wanting to be in.
ReplyDeleteI'd send you some of our weather if it were possible, although we are in for a bad weekend--but still, temperatures will be just hovering at freezing. Then there will be a dip to around 20F. (-6 C) That's actually not too horrible for us, but we are used to cold winters. It has been much warmer than normal so far, though.
Wishing you some warm sunshine to heat things back up. Meanwhile, stay warm.
Look at this way - if the weather was always perfect you would not know to appreciate it. A beautiful day is "glorious" because you know how cold, wet and windy it could be at any time of the year. Yes, I hear you say that you already know that. Don't you love the coziness of bad weather, time to read, cook, doze in front of a fire?
ReplyDeleteI've spent every afternoon in bed reading my kindle with a stripey cat ML :-)
ReplyDeleteThe boys were keen to go out today Jean, I guess one day inside was enough for them.

Cook? what is this word "cook" ??
ReplyDeleteC :-)
I got Radar out for a good hack on the roads, but it was too icy to risk either Jazz or Ace. I can trust Radar to do what I tell him to do and step very carefully. There were a couple of times when he has to tiptoe down a foot wide verge where the grass was crunchy so as to avoid a sheet of ice where springs rise and flow over the road. He's a godo boy like that.
ReplyDeleteTomorrow I plan to ride the other two indoors if it does not thaw overnight.

Oh dear, I take it cooking is not one of your favorite activities. It makes me want to cook for you! Well, at least know that I cook for Tetley :-)
ReplyDeleteSprings rising and flowing over the road - sounds treacherous in such cold weather.
It will be 9F (-13C) tonight and I have my lesson in the morning. Luckily we have the indoor where it will be at least 25F (-4C). I hope we get some good footage to post.
We outsource cooking :-)
