It's thawing well today so I should be riding tomorrow.
Meanwhile, I thought I would show you the awesome frozen pattern on the surface of a local lake that we walk around. It looked even better in real life!
The pattern must be caused by the wind. Very cool! My guess is that you are looking south as there seems to be more snow on the opposite bank. We noticed that it's green underneath the snow - not true here where it's beige to brown from November through March.
I am still giggling about "out sourcing your food". I think we are going to out source Wed, a compromise between Valentine's Day and Dave's birthday.
That looks so amazing. I agree with MaryLou, it does look like wind patterns. Wonder if it's the snow on top or the actual way the water froze.
Ironically, I was just looking over to the sandpit lake across the road and wondering if it was frozen at all. It's only been cold enough the last two days, so there may be a thin sheet of ice on it, but it's hard to tell. This is the first winter in a long time that I could say that.
I hope your thaw is long term and you can get back to enjoying riding the boys.
It was pure ice Jean, we walked within ten feet of it along a disused railway track.
The thaw has not been fast enough to ride today but come rain or shine tomorrow Radar will be out on the arena. I could have hacked him again but his feet are not used to so much roadwork these days and I really don't want them worn down any more than they are at the moment.
Since it was drizzling I slept instead of taking Ace out on the roads, it seemed a more inviting proposition :-)

We outsourced to a cafe whick looks like it is still in the 1950s in Buxton today. It's one of our regulars and we had a baked potato each.

Hope you get your thaw soon - suddenly plus 5 here and staying above freezing at night, and its SUCH a pleasure :-)
ReplyDeleteWe have half your temperature but at least it's still thawing.

There is a little town in Maine called Buxton.
ReplyDeleteIs it a spa town ML? Buxton has a hot spring like Bath and a wonderful, but currently unused, Georgian Crescent.
