He did it! Buttie stayed "on the lunge" without a lunge line. It was so unbelievably cute!!! He walked, trotted and cantered circles around me on command just as if the line was there. What a clever pony he is.
It was the most fantastic day today with a bright blue sky and no wind. Cold, but who cares when there is no wind to whip the heat out of your body. I have hacked both Ace and Jazz.
Ace improves when he is on his own and is left to take his own time to dawdle past things he is scared of. He didn't turn tail for home once today, though he was very interested in his shadow leading him all the way out and following him all the way home again :-) I think he will become a nice hack this year some time.
Jazz was Jazz. Spooky, looking for anything that he could to get upset about, but actually fairly well behaved. I only hack him for the sake of his feet these days, it does them so much good to be on the road once a week or so. If he will tolerate it I will continue to do it, but it's a bit like "medecine" for both of us.
I am planning to take Radar to the farm ride tomorrow. My own hunt is off and replaced with a walk and trot hound exercise on the roads. The other hunt would cost me £40 and I am not sure that it will be worth that amount of money when the fields are still so wet and we will probably be restricted to the field margins most of the time. I'm thinking that a £15 6 mile farm ride with 40 fences will be much better value for money and probably more fun too.
I'll let you know tomorrow what we did.

Buttie in plumes. Absolutely!! *G*
ReplyDeleteGood for both Jazz and Ace. Any time out is a good thing.
I think the farm ride would be your better option too. And, you get to pick the pace, so that would be fun!
What colour do you reckon to match a mouse dun pony Jean??
