I've started, so I won't finish

Ace has really got lovely forward transitions into trot now and he is asking to be allowed to do medium. But he won't stop! He has lost his down transition, which he used to pick up just from my seat. That's gone out the window. I am working on getting it back with repeated trot/walk/trot/walk, and a clear "down" voice aid (not "walk", because I would like the same voice aid to mean "slow down" whatever the pace). He got there in the end but it took a good forty or fifty repetitions. Clearly more work to be done!

Radar and I went for a very long hack (well 90 minutes but a huge amount of up and down hills). He was his usual self, wanting always to be in the next pace up from the one I wanted. Still, I never have to complain about how hard it is to get him moving, do I :-) ???

We may have some fun soon. I have bought four blue plastic barrels each 3 feet high. I thought it might do all three good to do a little jumping now and then. Does it help a dressage horse to learn to jump? I don't want Ace developing the wrong muscles and make it more difficult for him to do his real job.
