A cliffhanger

I shall leave you with a cliffhanger.

I have been offered this horse, 16.3 and 9 years old, for free. Now who does he remind you of :-) ??

I'm off on holiday for a few days now.

  1. Oh, my goodness!! He looks like Jazz!

Off on holiday with no answer about this horse? Not likely. You know exactly what you are going to do.

Not fair to keep us in suspense.

OK, have a good holiday. I can be patient.

    I think.....

    1. Apart from having more white on his face, he is identically marked. One sock and three stockings.

He has been slightly lame in front with foot balance issues for quite a long time. But his "treatment" has been wedge shoes which will only have made things worse.

I will be going to see him when I get back, but I must make sure that I don't simply try to "replace" Jazz because that would not be fair on him and would be destined for failure, Jazz was a one-off.

      Off to Hereford now. Bye!

ps if you happen to be a burglar reading this, don't even think about it. House sitter in residence full time and enough cameras to turn you into a film star :-)

  2. Oh, he's also the same size, weight and breeding. But he does showjump in a snaffle!

  3. Oooo I see a nice horse there, and minor foot rehab = no problems, but I hope the price is reflective of this.

Old for you though Caroline...although young for me ;-)

    1. Kinda easy to ignore him being "too old" if he's free :-)

  4. I see what you mean!

I think to introduce a mare with 2 geldings could lead to trouble, they would be fighting over her.

As for the draw reins, I also think you are perfectly correct about Ace not needing an option. Some horses are like that.

I think it is also why sometimes men are more successful with horses. They expect a horse to do what it is told and so long as the rider is fair, the horse goes along with that. Get a lady rider who wants to be "nice" to the horse can just mean that the horse is confused.

Obviously some horses have stronger personalities than others, and others don't like the "do it or else" attitude and go better for a woman rider.

    Interesting stuff.

    1. I think Ace is frightened by people who are too "nice" who leave him too much responsibility for his own actions. We'll see how he changes over the winter with the option to be physically spooky removed from him.
